I agree with you, luva.

But when it comes to the study, there are a few things about the conclusion that bother me.

Democrats are considerably less likely to express strong love of country than Republicans are, and less likely to think being an American is important. Of those who claimed to be “Strong Democrats,” only around half expressed extremely strong love of country, compared to three-fourths of the “Strong Republicans.”

What he fails to acknowledge, as I see it, is that those people who "claimed" to consider themselves as "strong" democrats may be lying. That's what people do when asked something like that. And then again, this is a mere opinion study, so at least for me, there's no real fact to stick to. These opinions of our country may have been a "spur-of-the-moment" answers, or just the people's thinking that the man approaching them is a Republican based on the questions. They may be answering in a certain way because of the partisanship they conceive is behind the survey, and just as well be sick of Republicans (or people who are unpatriotic in their eyes) running amok.

If this was a study done over a long period of time or something that would establish consistency in the way people answered, I might believe it a bit more. It might also convince me if he explained his method.

and this should shick us how? its true, you may find pockets of patriots in a city, but all you have to do is see the utube footage of a mccain/palin march in new york and the reaction of the crowds around to see that they pretty much do hate their country. hell, if they hate it that much move to fucking france. i live in a small town and their does seem to be much more patriotism here than when i lived in a city.
