OK, nice pics. But when is she going to offer an interview for the national press?
She’s been sealed off tighter than a tupperware container.
Let’s see, Doug… she was announced on Friday morning… when we knew Gustav was bearing down somewhere on the US Gulf coast. Even the GOP convention is scaling back, changing their convention to the basics and turning it into a relief fundraiser.
The news will be dominated by Gustav, and the states suffering serious toll on human life and property.
And you think, in this time, they should re’prioritize and instead run a national interview with Sarah?
Doug, Doug… think. Again, you’re being impatient. When there is time for such news, it will happen. She’s not sealed off. She’s just lower on the news totem pole at the moment.
D’oh! Now you tell me…
Oh, well. I’m sure he realizes this bump in contributions is no accident to the VP announcement.
I think McCain got the message Wordsmith. I think he got it ten million times.
I add our contribution this morning too.
Thanks for the great pictures.

Great analogy, I also thought about it on Saturday, ruminating about a comparison to her….she is Teddy Roosevelt, Maggie Thatcher, Annie Oakley and Wonder Woman all rolled up into One!!!
I have no doubt that she will be the next VPOTUS.
WOW!! I can not tell you enough how greatly impressed I am by this incredible, honorable, inteligent woman.. John McCain had my vote before she was placed on the ticket but now I am even more excited because of Sarah.. By the way.. Did you know Sarah means Princess in Hebrew.. So we will have a living Princess in the white house.. Who knew??
Anxiously awaiting to cast my vote in Maine..
Joy
WOW is right!! I have alredy been volunteering in the McCain Campaign but since Friday everyone is totally jazzed and revved up and ready to roll their sleeve up and work even harder!
I have been appointed as my City Chair for Women for McCain Coalition! Sarah has just made my work so much easier! What a gal!! LOVE her!!
The best thing about her is that out of the four candidates she is the only one with any executive experience! Best of all is that she is waaaay more experienced that NObama!!
The choice for the next president/vice president is a no brainer!!
GO MCCAIN/PALIN!!
I would like to comment on John McCain’s speech at the convention on Thursday. His was a MOVING, sincere and humble speech by a man of GIANT STATURE in impeccable integrity.
It takes a great man to be willing to let others take some of the credit for his hard work. I noticed the proud gleam of a father’s eye when he introduced us all to Sarah Palin as his Vice President and protege.
Within a very short time of sitting under his leadership and tutelage, Sarah Palin will be well prepared for any duty she may be required to assume, including the presidency. THIS IS HONOR. From looking at her family photos, it is obvious that her family brought her up in the true AMERICAN FRONTIER TRADITION. Who knew it was still possible in the 21st Century?
For a long time, this country has been HUNGRY FOR LEADERS, NOT BUREAUCRATS.
John McCain and Sarah Palin are true LEADERS.
I pray for them every day – especially that God will help them weather the brutal abuse of the main stream media and the wiles of George Soros’s “Chosen One.”
Perhaps America has not forgotten about the millions of our forbears who have paid for our freedom with their very lives. I know John McCain hasn’t forgotten.
Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.
A republican relative has informed me of one of the talking points (non-issues) that Teddy Roosevelt was only governor for two years before becoming president. A lot of folksy folks will hear this, and repeat it. However, many won’t take the time to really compare Palin, Roosevelt, Biden, McCain, and Obama. Here are some fun facts:
Teddy Roosevelt also:
• was a conservationist, calling for conservation of natural resources. He also played a large role in the slow, but eventual Wilderness Act of 1964,because of his preservation of many federally designated Wilderness Areas, many of which are still protected till this day under the Wilderness Act. He was also close friends with John Muir, the founder of the Sierra Club.
• the first president to call for a universal health care system. Something that MCCain is against
• a self-proclaimed Progressive, something that Obama is as well
• Harvard student, something Obama is also.
• Went to law school. So did Obama. In fact, Obama was the president of the Harvard Law Review. Sarah Palin went to five different colleges in six years because she couldn’t settle.
If you really want to compare Teddy Roosevelt to the Candidates, you’ll loose with McCain. Palin is a JOKE.
No Ms. Bell. The joke here is the sneering contempt you lefties have for anything and anyone who doesn’t come from one of your elites or the approved group of victims you abuse in order to achieve political power.
Sarah Palin is so like the rough and ready Teddy Roosevelt whose image has been ingrained on history and coincidences in comparison with Obama are nothing more.
Something tells me Obama wouldn’t be much use out in the wilderness living off the land like both T.R. and S. P.
Pingback: Roosevelt, Palin? Specious! | Dangerous Intersection
No Mike. Sarah Bell is right. McCain and Palin will continue the destructive policies of George W. Bush. Palin is likable on the surface because she appears to look like one of us, like our friends, our families, brothers and sisters. It’s easy to like Sarah Palin. I like my sister . . . but that doesn’t mean I think she should be President or Vice-President. She’s a wonderful person, but she’d make a horrible President/Vice-President; worse than Bush. Throw personal emotion out the window and re-evaluate the candidates. We don’t have to like the President, we just need a president who will do their job. If you want four more years of fear, war, scandal, and economic collapse; if you want for more years like the last eight under Bush/Cheney; if you want four more years of being ignored until “voting time” then vote for McCain and Palin.
“the destructive policies of George W. Bush”
You mean like keeping us safe from terrorist attacks on the homeland since 9/11? You mean like drawing all the poison out of the Middle East and into Iraq where Al Queda could be destroyed and is now seen as defeated and rejected by fellow Muslims?
And Economic collapse? The unemployment rate is still lower than it was during the Clinton years and I bet you called that a boomtime.
The last eight years have been filled with nothing more from you lefties but a stream of hate and abuse directed at Bush, conservatives and Republicans.
And it appears you are ready to continue that divisive, angry hate filled campaign for another 8 years.
While I agree with the conclusion of W.A.F’s point, that Palin would make a horrible VP, I disagree it’s “easy to like her”. Personally, for me, I think she’s tied herself to a man that has no political keel, or ethical bearings, he’ll will go wherever the conservative social base tells him to go. That’s essentially why he has her instead of Joe or Mitt– the social conservatives wouldn’t have supported McCain if he didn’t bow to their demands and pick a ‘fundamentalist.’
She’s hardly ‘a wonderful person’, too. She has joined McCain in pushing the threshold of truth-telling to fantasy and absurd proportions and plays political hardball just as well as her mainland GOP relatives.
McCain ” will go wherever the conservative social base tells him to go. ”
What planet are you on Doug? Do you know NOTHING about McCain’s repeated efforts to buck the conservative base?
I confronted McCain personally on several of those points in November last year. It’s one of the reasons so many conservatives were squeamish about supporting McCain.
This choice of Sarah Palin is the only reason so many of us can support him enthusiastically now.
And to you that’s a bad thing.
Well too bad!
You’re stuck with Obama and Biden.
Or as I like to call them: Dumb and Dumber!
Mike, that was last November.
Now, he’s “acceptable” due to Palin:
http://www.reuters.com/articlePrint?articleId=USN1132586820080911
McCain couldn’t “buck the conservative base” this time, he needed it to win. So, he sold out.
You won’t find me complaining Doug. And I am not surprised YOU are.
But I think you better look to your own party before you come pointing fingers at mine.
You nominated one of the weakest general election candidates in modern history.
You may not be complaining, but Tony is:
http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/442572.aspx
I would urge all to read the rest of the source “doug” just posted. His post kind of reminds me of what Gibson just did to Palin.
Good call, Ms. Missy
Apparently, when you read the full article, they even rejected a video substitute for President Bush because of a “no video” policy. Guess Tony’s not all that livid. Especially the reasons why Palin was declining to appear.
Let’s see… Palin has the choice of speaking at the Summit for campaign purposes, or attending her son’s deployment ceremony…. ummmmm. Tough choice…. NOT.
.
Doug is just trying to manipulate McCain-Palin voters with the same disinformation tactics we have all become so accustomed to seeing from his side.
It’s undeniable that social conservatives, fiscal conservatives, reform conservatives and even neocon foreign policy conservatives are pretty darned pleased with Palin.
Too bad Doug’s Dem friends can’t say the same about Biden.
It’s not that simple:
She was scheduled to appear in person. The ‘Values’ conference is 3 days long, ending Sunday afternoon. Yet on Saturday she’ll be campaigning in Nevada. She could have made it.
McCain who had a clear calendar also said no:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&sid=aMOAN7m2Ik8I&refer=home
(Pls. read the whole piece.)
There are also these indicators that provide a glimpse into McCain wanting to distance himself from this body:
and
In the end, they both get what they want, but there is little doubt shadow games are afoot.
First of all, Doug… it is essentially a two day event. Friday was the day loaded up with speakers, as the entire afternoon of Saturday is all Breakout Sessions. Sunday is a breakfast and morning worship only.
The slot that seems to have McCain “and/or” Barack Obama was Saturday at 2:40-3pm, before the sessions began. Palin was in Nevada for another appearance, and McCain was in the beltway doing whatever it is he needed to do.
Saturday was a conflict of scheduling, and out of the question for Palin. This leaves Friday only, and entailed shuffling around speakers.
Even were they amiable to that, it’s a 9-10 hour flight from Anchorage to Wash DC… then add the time difference. If you leave Anchorage at 7AM, you don’t land until 8-9pm. The last speaker on Friday was Mitt Romney, scheduled to speak at 7:15 to 7:35pm… when Palin would still be in the air.
So unless you’ve got a Star Trek transporter stashed in your closet, just how did you plan for her to attend in person? So nope… no scandal. Just no time in the day, guy. Poof…. bubble burst.
As for McCain, he apparently had stuff on his platter that also conflicted for Saturday, when he was scheduled.
Secondly… your link leads nowhere. Perhaps you’d like to correct it?
Third… I’ll bite. Now why do you think McCain/Palin would concertedly dodge the Christian voters at the Summit, when the Christian base is believed to be GOP’s territory?
MH says,
“Now why do you think McCain/Palin would concertedly dodge the Christian voters at the Summit, when the Christian base is believed to be GOP’s territory?”
Just look at the line up of speakers. You don’t remember the cool and colder things said to and about McCain by Dobbs, Dobson, Perkins, Hannity, Schlafly, and his buddy Romney (the only former GOP presidential primary candidates to show up this time).
Add, last year’s cool reception, that I’ve already stated above. Plus, the years of ‘agents of intolerance’ abrasiveness.
McCain wants those moderates, those independents to feel he’s his own man, not hog tied to the GOP-Church. If he would have attended, or Palin, the press would have had a field day running down the old blood relations and comments like this that Perkins made yesterday:
http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/perkins-says-palin-pick-purely-political-2008-09-10.html
Pretty dumb, huh??? They aren’t known for their candor.
Also, of course, Palin didn’t have to go to Nevada. It could have waited. In the end, they didn’t want the bad press, that’s why they skipped. The link I posted above is why it’s okay that they skipped it: the fundamentalists now have their ‘red meated’ Palin, they are now sated.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&sid=aMOAN7m2Ik8I&refer=home
It also helps explain why Brody asks, at the end of his column:
Let’s be clear. There is no love lost between McCain and them. It is an arrangement of necessity.
Doug, you’re not making any sense here. There are some long time McCain supporters like CentFla. But there is a huge contingency of conservative voters who haven’t been enthused with McCain since his run in 2000.
As I pointed out, Palin could not possibly be there. McCain’s appearance? I’m not sure what he was up to… said “campaign business”. Frankly, you see this as some sort of conspiratorial snubbing, and I see it as scheduling conflicts. I’m sure you’d prefer the former because you’d love to have the rift in the GOP that you have in the DNC. But oops… seems that McCain looks pretty darned good by teaming up with another maverick, who doesn’t look at the initial after a lawmakers name before going after them. Her presence makes us feel he is less tight with Lieberman (who I genuinely like, but not domestica policies), and actually a little more conservative than we give him credit for.
Just because there’s no love lost between the conservatives like Hannity and Schlafly doesn’t mean McCain’s going to dodge them. He knows he needs their votes, and isn’t banking on only moderates and ostracized Hillary supporters.
But you can keep on “hoping”…. afterall, hope is all you DNC’ers got.
…’not making any sense’ or you don’t understand.
I’m a facts kind of girl, Doug. Your fantasy theories of McCain or Palin avoiding a huge conservative constituency don’t hold any water. They are merely devices of your imagination.
I understand what you are saying. I’m just telling you your brain cells function in fiction better than non-fiction.
Then again, you are our FA token crystal ball guy… but it’s always proven to be dusty.
Doug, take it from me, someone who has actually been to one of these conservative events (where I was introduced to Phyllis Schlafly by my ex boss): despite your best efforts to find a cloud in the conservative base’s enthusiasm for Mccain Palin you are wasting your time.
Once again, since your own parties choice for VP has proven to be such a dud, I realize why you would seek to undermine ours but it won’t work.
The FACT is we really have little real choice as the MACHINE has CHOSEN the two candidates long ago. Yes Ms. Palin has a uterus, breasts, shoots animals, has offered a $150 bounty for left front leg of wolves, knows how to dress a moose, and a degree (Idaho Univ) in journalism after 5-6 years of education. This is NOT American Idol – the ONLY reason Plain was put in this slot ala KARL ROVE – is to once again, zero in on the utility building tambourine ( I was raised in Bible Belt country and once belonged to one of these ‘churches’) playing – gun toting ( I believe in gun ownership) – etc crowd. These are the same folks that Senator McCain told ( West Virginia – Ohio – Pennsylvania) that with the steel mills shuttered ( sent to China with his vote on treaties/ also Democrat votes) and their homes in foreclosure that they could make a living ‘by selling their stuff on Ebay’. Talk about out of touch. He owns (couldn’t remember) 9 homes, sent his children to the top private schools, owns a corporate jet (no searching – pawing – being bumped from airlines for him) – and has voted consistently against veteran issues. John’s buddy former Senator Gramm / whom he called his ‘economic adviser’ –(now hiding out) is the AUTHOR of the two lawless bills ( 1999 – 2000) signed by Clinton no less, that have brought us to this real estate implosion and financial ruination —namely the Financial Modernization Act and the Commodities Futures Modernization Act —-which effectively REPEALED the Banking Act of 1933 and allowed the pigs into the trough. Issues —I attended some of the POW/MIA ’91-92 Hearings that McCain held where he insulted and rabidly attacked the mothers – wives of MIAs —calling them ‘craven – liars etc’ (on line you have the responsibility to KNOW whom you’re voting for). The result of these pathetic hearings was that JOHN’S records are SEALED ( why if he’s a hero) and the records of other veterans have been made a bureaucratic maze to access. John is lost back in the 60s. I have a FEELING that dear Sarah (chosen by ROVE) is a filler —–She’ll be lauded and praised / made center stage with all the BS PR that people buy into –until AFTER the election at which time a crisis will arise at home and darn she’ll have to attend to her FAMILY –then Joe Lieberman will get his spot in the SUN —the guy that Sen. McCain really wants. WATCH. PS John crashed five planes – four in training/ if his father hadn’t been head of the Pacific fleet he’d have been booted out/ no John wasn’t tortured. Please he was called the Crown Prince —they were thrilled to have such an important prisoner. He had the best of medical care. Can you name our longest held prisoner of war —and relate how he suffered?
Is this the Sunday funnies thread?
I think it’s the waiting room for the “More Bile than Brains” club of Bush haters.
It amazes me how skilled these loons are in filling every sentence with such bizarre combinations of factually inaccurate (i.e. “9 houses”) smear laden goo.
What a shame the recently passed prescription drug benefit for Medicare doesn’t include a provision to get these folks the mood stabilizers they so clearly need.
Although never called more Bile than Brains I have certainly been called acerbic and bitter by Mike before. And Doug, you have never, ever been more wrong about anything that you are about McCain.
For years (It feels like) I have come to this site and read as seemingly everyone on this site complained bitterly about McCain and his RINO ways. Over and over again the fact that he stood up against his (IMO MISGUIDED) party being run by idealouges who have changed many of the GOP platform ideals, or simply forgotten them once elected, McCain worked across the aisle and has legislation with his name and such extremists as Fiengold and Kennedy. He created the gang of 16 that got his excoriated on this site and many like it. He initially believed that the Bush tax cuts were the right idea but favored the rich inordinately. He believes that Global Warming is a man made event and that we should attempt to reverse its causes. He is a picture of credibility when it comes to pork barrel spending even when the GOP became drunk with power and allowed Stevens to become the most fiscally abusive Senator in 50 years and the sitting president lost his veto pen for six years.
You can chide John McCain for shifting slightly during an election if you are really that unimaginably naive to think that he is the only one ever to do so. You can turn the other way while Obama shifts his positions on gun control and Iraq policy and so many other positions if you really believe that other politicians do not do as McCain has done.
I write this with the giant Mike’s America “BUT” coming – But – I am no fan of the Palin pick either. I think she is a fine woman but there are literally hundreds, perhaps one thousand people more prepared to fill the role of President than her. She is a total trophy pick or we would not be looking at pictures of her in High School or the zoo or other such ridiculous poses for a candidate for high office. If she helps John get elected and he stays healthy she will do. But really, no more pictorials please. It deminishes all of us in my Holier Than Thou way of thinking. (I put that in there for you too MikeA)
I closing of this stupid rant (and thank you for sticking with me dear reader) I think that if you really believe that SP and TR have anything in common other than killing animals you are insane.
Teddy was a Soldier – Sarah is a hockey Mom
Teddy believed in Universal Health Care – Sarah not so much
Teddy traveled over seas extensively decades before becoming elected President – Sarah can see Russia from her back yard
Teddy prevented forestry using federal lands – Sarah wants to drill ANWR
Ted did more for conservation than any president before or since – Sarah, well see above
Sarah Palin has little in common with Teddy Roosevelt.
But she is kid of hot, she looks a lot like my wife.

Centfla: Does your wife approve of you posting her photo on the internet?
As for the giant “But:”
The problem with McCain and conservatives was an issue of trust. That was what was behind my questions to him last November.
With the pick of Palin he showed conservatives we could trust him with the most important decision he would make prior to the election.
As for Teddy Roosevelt: He was only Governor for two years when selected to run as VP.
And I doubt very much he had anything in mind that was nearly as excessive as the federal land grabs that now prevent the exploitation of 2,000 acres of wasteland in ANWR out of 20 million.
Mike you forgot to lead with how attractive my wife was.
apology accepted
She knows where every pic of her is posted, as far as she knows…
I am proud of my wife but I think you know her story. That pic of us rock climbing in Red Rock on the one year anniversary of her diagnosis with cancer.
She has more in my opinion in common with Sarah Palin than Sarah has with Teddy. My wife and Sarah are both rock hard tough gals, and like Sarah, my wife married her HS sweetheart. Me.
I remember reading Joan’s story when I first started visiting FA in spring, CentFla. May I say that she certainly looks a’bloom and most lovely. And may she stay that way.
Now, the burning question is, just what does she see in you? LOL
Just kidding, of course…. But such a large opening, what could I do??
CentFla,
With all sincerity I want to say that I hope that your wife will have many, many more years of good health and happiness.
Cancer is an ugly, vicious, indeterminate enemy that attacks people of all ages, creeds, sexes, and colors.
I look forward to the day that I turn on the TV or click over to a page on the Internet to discover that cancer has been defeated.
I’m not sure what Joan did to deserve you but I am sure that if she asked for forgiveness she would be released from her torment.
funny you guys…
it is unquestionably my wit that ranks very high on Joan’s list of things to love about me. Oh, I am somewhat well off too, I understand that helps…
And what does Joan think about your belittling McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin?
P.S. I hope you have made a rather sizeable donation to the campaign. After all, McCain was your first choice. I’ve put my money where my mouth is!
I never belittled her, on the contrary I said she was a fine woman who was just not ready to be president. I do not think that is belittling.
And although Joan does not mind the pics, she does not allow me to talk about her politics.

As I see it McCain certainly isn’t going to become a “member” of the religious right, he won’t be warming up to them, nor will he even tolerate them. He’s certainly a secular guy; there’s a history of it, it’s been in his fiber for a long time– that’s why they don’t trust him.
But the reality is that he doesn’t at all care about social policy, doesn’t give a rat’s ass about it. He’ll happily turn the _social_ agenda over to Palin, the religious right’s new centerfold; it’s why they are so giddy, that’s the trade off.
They clearly aren’t going to put her in charge of foreign policy or economics. What else is she going to do?
It’s her for them, and them for her social policy.
“But the reality is that he doesn’t at all care about social policy, doesn’t give a rat’s ass about it.”
How high are you Doug?
You might recall Senator McCain’s answer to Pastor Rick Warren’s question regarding the moment human rights are confered on babies: “At conception” or words to that effect was his answer.
Hardly the words of someone with no care about social policy.
I would expect someone with little care for social policy to respond: “that’s above my pay grade.”
And yet, statements like this certainly doesn’t endear him to the militant secularists, does it?
Doug, during her time as governor of Alaska, has she ever pushed any pro-life legislation?
Is there anything in McCain’s record to look to, that indicates he won’t appoint and support justices that conservatives will be happy with?
“Doug, during her time as governor of Alaska, has she ever pushed any pro-life legislation?”
Irrelevant. Her being pro-life, and not having ‘pushed any legislation’, doesn’t impact my claim.
“Is there anything in McCain’s record to look to, that indicates he won’t appoint and support justices that conservatives will be happy with?”
According the social conservative evangelicals there is.
Doug: Give it a rest. You’re boring the readers to tears.
Of course not. Secularists and atheists on the Left love to fear-monger over the impact and influence of the religious right. Note how Gibson referenced “holy war”, trying to paint Palin as some sort of religious right-wing nut.
According to Planned Parenthood Action Fund there isn’t:
I can’t believe people are seriously comparing her to Teddy Roosevelt…… Teddy Roosevelt for God’s sake. The man who:
Traveled extensively in Europe and Middle East during his youth
Had a photographic memory
Literally read a book everyday
Graduated from Harvard, Magna Cum Laude
At Harvard, edited the student magazine and was runner-up in the Harvard boxing championship
While in France, led a party to the summit of Mount Blanc: a feat which triggered his induction into the British Royal Society
Wrote the book “The Naval War of 1812″ which was considered standard history for over 2 generations. The book undertook extensive and original research analyzing British and American naval tactics.
Also wrote a 4 volume history of the frontier titled “The Winning of the West” which had a major impact on historians as it presented an original version of the frontier thesis elaborated on by Fredrick Jackson Turner
Was a United States Civil Service Commissioner where he modernized and demanded the enforcement of civil service laws
President of the Board of NYC Police Commissioners where he radically reformed the NY Police Department
Assistant Secretary of the Navy
Formed the “Rough Riders”, the first US Volunteer Calvary Regiment, which he later became Colonel of
Governor of NY
All of this was done BEFORE his nomination for VP. If you think that Palin is even REMOTELY similar to Roosevelt, then you sir/ma’m are an idiot
Brian: No one ever said Palin and TR were identical twins.
You cite all the differences but failed to cite the big theme similarities.
Here’s some help to better inform your perspective:
Pingback: Purplemoose Gazette » Who am I?
Why would I cite similarities? There are none……
Brian said: “Why would I cite similarities? There are none……”
When you first commented I wondered if you might be an idiot but gave you the benefit of the doubt. Now, you have removed that doubt.
Moby sighting on Aisle 50
Sarah Palin is a creation of Karl Rove’s brand of politics / he’s running the show in case you haven’t noticed). Karl is staying with the tried and true / (it worked before) of slithering up to the Metal Utility Building Evangelical / Fundie crowd. The well paid PR firms in this country know the catch phrases, and the citizens they wish to propagandize. Sarah Palin is only for the Gun/ Bible crowd – the rest of us ( I assume?) are negligee. This group represents a huge voting block. Stick with the wedge issues —throw the masses some red meat / lies are the name of the game (after all Machiavelli is Rove’s favorite reading) – and get them gnashing amongst themselves (name calling, insults – labels – etc) – Divided We Fall . No Sarah is no Teddy Roosevelt ( as if it matters) – she’s no reformer (check with Alaska citizens) what with 27 million in tax payer grant monies for Wasilla – and a 200 million (Gov office) listing for new monies for Alaska / who clean up with yearly royalty checks (each member of the family ) in the thousands – heating funds ( approx 1,200) – Wasilla had a population of 5,400 hundred, years ago when she was Mayor ( a town administrator handled most affairs). She won by 616 votes. As an operating room nurse I can tell you, that if the judgment she used (her own words) in having her water break – going ahead with a Republican speech in Texas ( ” I wouldn’t have missed it for the world” Sarah) – then taking an 11 hr flight plus another hours trip to the hospital in Wasilla with a KNOWN ‘high risk ‘ baby is evidence of sound thinking —-yikes people have a real problem. Any MOTHER (Democrat or Republican) will tell you that with a fifth child – things can happen QUICKLY – that if one’s water breaks ( Obstetrician’s advice not mine) you get yourself immediately to the nearest hospital —duh, you risk not only instant birth but INFECTION for the baby. Glass ceilings not withstanding – motherhood is the HIGHEST calling of a women / though some have maligned this ! Having worked in numerous hospitals, institutions, with my parents having a special needs child – I can tell you that this baby needs nurturing – special medical attentions – ( in the months following birth heart, vision, hearing, gastrointestinal problem can arise) and aggressive intervention from the beginning, so that he can reach his highest potential. I found the scenes at the Convention rather pathetic, with this new born being tossed around like a Christmas ham – and the youngest daughter (age six – bless her heart) having charge of him and spitting all over his head etc. Dear little child – what did she know? I would NEVER expose my ‘high risk’ baby to this mob scene / nor the crescendo of noise. Too much undue risk. A brief (if they needed it for PR) showing of the baby, in a proper carrier, r with a nanny tending to him / and then exiting would have been better judgment. The only importance of Sarah is John’s age and his history of cancer / prostrate problems etc. I personally think we’ve getting a bum rap anyway you go — WHAT CHOICE? Look at the multi millions it takes to run for office / leaving the multitudes, who might do a much better job / never getting to first base. Our nation is in grave peril – we”re in the midst of a financial tsunami – massive job losses – foreclosures – medical care a joke (only the rich and politicians have the best) —lipstick on a pig or a pit bull. is an insult to the intelligent citizens amongst us. Please no bottom feeder insults or labels – times are too serious. Besides if they can keep Sarh ticking till after the election –they’re in he clear. She’ll have a crisis at home – and JOE LIEBERMAN will get his promised VP position. Just watch.
Annie, please show us something to back up your claim that Karl Rove is behind the Sarah Palin pick.
Oh my Annie: It’s all “blah, blah, blah” after the first sentence.
What is it with you semi-literate left wing freakazoid loons with more bile than brains?
Haven’t you ever heard of a paragraph or a coherent thought?
I should thank you though. Every time you comment McCain and Palin go another point higher in the polls.
Are you sure you don’t work for Karl Rove?
Yeah Mike, I’m definitely an idiot. You’re absolutely right and I should listen to you….
Brian: If you weren’t an idiot you would listen to me.
Mike: from what I can see from reading a lot of your comments anyway, all you seem to do on this blog when you don’t agree with someone is slander them. I guess you fit right in with McCain then, maybe you should be VP!
Well Brian it’s hardly slander when I correctly characterize the character assasination being practiced by bottom feeders like you and Annie.
Annie dear,
When you finish providing some sort of support for your claim that Rove is behind the Palin pick, I’d be very interested in reading about how Palin’s “water broke” while she was in Texas.
I’d also like for you to present any sort of documentation or support whatsoever that her child was “high risk” prior to birth as well as during the convention.
There are so many more Glittering Jewels of Colossal Ignorance within your post, but I won’t distract you with too many at a time.
Annie Dear,
When you finish providing some sort of support for your claim that Rove is behind the Palin pick, I’d be very interested in reading about how Palin’s “water broke” while she was in Texas.
I’d also like for you to present any sort of documentation or support whatsoever that her child was “high risk” prior to birth as well as during the convention.

Run along now and work on those. I’ll have more ready when you get back.

I’d also like for you to present any sort of documentation or support whatsoever that her child was at “high risk” because of his presence at the convention.

When you “characterize the character assasination”?? lol… could you be more of a douche bag?
and since you are apparently always right, or at least think you are, get your facts straight: I never attacked anyone’s character. read my fucking posts a little more thoroughly. actually YOU were the one to attack my character dumbass. All I did was attack the article which this string of comments is based upon. And because I don’t agree with it or the person who wrote it whom also probably thinks they are right, apparently that makes me an idiot?
Brian,
Um….You admitted you were an idiot in #56.
Why belabor the point?

I was being sarcastic, and because it’s fun…
” I never attacked anyone’s character. read my fucking posts a little more thoroughly. actually YOU were the one to attack my character dumbass. “
I guess in your delusional world this was a compliment?
“Why would I cite similarities? There are none……” between Sarah Palin and Teddy Roosevelt.
Something tells me the guttermouth language you used above is the tip of the iceberg we can expect from you bottom feeding trolls. If so, you won’t be around here long.
Idiot!
Mike: the attack I just made, clearly came way after your first attack. apparently you have no real sense of time.
Obviously, I was being sarcastic when I made the comment about there being no similarities. But the similarities that exist are very generalized: they are a joke. I have 2/3rds of those similarities and so do 100′s of 1000′s of other Americans.
And who cares about “guttermouth language”? so fucking what?
I could care less if I’m around here long…. this is the first time I have stopped here and it will definitely be my last. Didn’t plan on sticking around.
Then don’t let the door hit you on the way out. You’ve shown more a propensity for trash talk than you have towards making any meaningful or useful contribution to the discussion on this thread.
The important argument here folks is how, a TWO YEAR GOVERNOR can become vice/president. This of course obama/dems/libs does not want to argue. they have minimalized her to just a small town mayor and forget the she IS SIMILAR TO TEDDY AS A GOVERNOR!
ANOTHER argument. IVY LEAGUE!
as dems like to complain about bush’s incompetence, he too was an ivy league grad, which cancels out that argument. because teddy is an ivy league grad makes him worthy like obama is nonsense because bush was also.
Further, from the complaints of the past of many leaders, many of which were ivy league grads means that maybe it is TIME FOR A CHANGE!
VOTE NON IVY LEAGUE GRADS, until you get a roosevelt. The closest of which is a palin, a two year governor from an Iowa College!
It is so disheartening to hear this language coming from Democratic adults. I have always respected my Democratic counterparts but no longer. I am unabashedly proud to be a Christian Conservative Woman and I an quite tired of being criticised for it. Just because I dont support late term abortion or abortion for birth control I am made to feel “out of touch”. I think that the Dems will be surprised how many of us there are when we go to the polls in November. I applaud Sarah Palin and wish her well. She makes me openly proud to be a woman with values as she obviously is. GO SARAH! By the way…for those of you who think she lacks experience just look at your number one on the ticket. Its funny that the world is comparing your number one to our number two!
The world isn’t comparing Palin and Obama….. the media is. Most people’s views are completely skewed because of the media. Personally, I think when it comes to such a large decision making process for our country, the media should be held responsible for their actions. They should not be allowed to take things so far out of context as they usually do.
Does anyone else agree the media in this country is just screwed up?
i don’t believe the media put the issue forward initially comparing obama and palin. when palin was announced the obama camp said, “a small town mayor…a heart beat away from the presidency.” dems were saying she was inexperienced. then repubs. flipped it and started comparing her executive experience versus obama’s. point being she has more. the media took it and ran with it and put the facts forward to make the public decide. obama doesn’t want that argument, so i think, they want to change the situation! when hillary was recently asked about palin as vp choice, she said it wasn’t about her, it was about the party differences.
Regardless…. I think the experience issue is a joke. It’s all subjective.
Isn’t the quote you mentioned from the media? In the quote there is a “…” which usually means some things were taken out, hence out of context.
yes. the media has a blank sheet of paper and minutes to fill on TV. so, whatever “food” politicians/people give them they will eat it there. it keeps politicians in check with the public. like it or not! does it ALWAYS do it’s job. NO! is it better than wonder what the politicians are doing behind closed doors? maybe! for me, i don’t always want to know! there again, it’s up to the media to decide what is published, but ultimately for the viewers/citizens benefit. IDEALLY!
i wrote the “quotations” to make my point! so you can get the gist! the entire statement was released. you can find it almost anywhere. check here:
http://www.crikey.com.au/US-Election/20080901-Obama-campaign-responds-to-Palin-announcement.html
you have to click on another link to find the entire statement and decide for yourself about the journalistic integrity! some news organizations are better than others. cnn and fox news are the best typically. you never know what you’ll find on blogs, even like these. it’s the age of information where the net is a verbal feeding frenzy of ideas of all kinds. it give a voice to some who have dangerous ideas. therefore, i’m thankful for those news agencies like those above.
You’re high, if you think that just because this woman’s from Alaska that makes her the female Roosevelt. She Barely knows how to do her job as govenor, and comes off as being this evangelical, right wing idiot. I can’t wait to see her get served next week by Biden.
I see that the asylum door is ajar again.
who said, it’s b/c she is from AK? Roosevelt was not from there! they had commonalities in their love of conservation and experience leading into the presidency. 80% of Alaskan’s believe she was doing a good job. so….your points are lack – respectfully!
Jodo said “She Barely knows how to do her job as govenor”
If you knew how to spell “barely” I might take your comment more seriously.
As it is, Gov. Palin has the highset approval rating of ANY Governor.
Put that in your bigoted anti-Christian pipe and smoke it.
Really? From what I hear, Palin’s against having a personal chef; besides, even though Biden’s place probably should be in the kitchen, all he knows how to serve up is
balognabaloney.“I can’t wait to see her get served next week by Biden.”
Looks like this guy won;t be back to talk about Bin Biden’s a** whoopin’ by the little lady from Wasilla Thursday huh?
Hopefully Biden doesn’t get shot down over the weekend like he did in Afghanistan by that wicked flurry storm.
