Red I understand that she has a gun and believe me if I hear the term Hockey Mom one more time I am going to write a strongly worded letter the the NHL.

The problem is not that we needed someone with the stuff she brings. My neighbor’s wife is 700 days away from being exactly as qualified as Sarah Palin. That is simply not enough experience to suit me.

I only mentioned the other women because it is apparent that John felt pressure to meausre up to Obama’s historic ticket. I would have prefered Gov Pawlenty who has everything that Sarah does but in much, much higher quantity.

These headlines and donations are fantastic. But is she really who we think can do the job best? No frickin’ way. She has clearly charmed the media and many others in the short term but this should never, ever have been about a short term shot in the arm. It should be about whom is best suited to follow McCain if something should happen to him.

And Mike I have asked you before, and will thank you to use the term contrarian.

Now let’s all read another post about how she has a gun or her husband drives a snowmobile. Ooh, maybe there will be more information about how her water broke and she hopped on a plane to Alaska instead of seeking a local doctor! Those are excellent things to discuss about our 2d most powerful person in the country.

Red73 summed it up very well. The last thing we needed was another old Senate warhorse on the GOP ticket to match the Dems. And thhe voters who think this was a great choice are putting their money where their mouth is. Contributions are pouring into the McCain campaign and people are writing “Sarah Palin” in the box where it asked who referred you.

It’s too bad that CentFla can’t get excited when the candidate HE has supported all along does something the rest of us like.

But then, CentFla seems to prefer being the naysayer.

CentFla it sounds as though you will not be happy with any candidate unless they have Washington experience. That is exactly what the country does not need.

Look at the women’s accomplishments. I was happy to hear this morning on Foxnews that the “youth vote” is doing just that.

Sarah is a basketball playing, gun toting, fishing, hockey mom who just happened to take on the corrupt in her home state and won, as well as big oil and won. She has included Democrats and Independents in every administration and reduced government spending.

With all due respect to every other female Republican who feels qualified for the job, you lack excitement. Sarah brings pazaz, youth, and a history of executive decision-making. She negotiates with foreign governments regularly and no one on the other ticket or potential female VP candidate can say that.

In short the rest of the field, male and female, are like shinny old Lincolns (The Democrat ticket is a Model T) and Sarah Palen is the *Ford AC Cobra 427: Smart, quick, stunning, high torque, and fearless.

Imagine that, MA telling someone else what they are…

I do not mean extreme as an insult, extreme conservatives are those that have the most conservative views. Why such a fervor over that?
I didn’t demean or name names.

Sarah Palin makes me wonder if everyone thinks, Hey why don’t I try and become VP.

If this is what makes “the base” come out and vote for McCain then I am saddened by the base.

Depends on what you mean by ‘extreme conservatives’; you need to be more precise. The paleos and the pro-lifers will (and generally do) like the choice. People who are big on foreign policy are likely going to find her a less appealing choice.

Olympia Snowe? What are you smoking? Hutchinson would suck too. Neither would do anything to energize the base and Snowe would turn conservatives off. Neither would do much to attract the Hillary voter or the soccer Mom as they have been in the Senate too long.

What was most exciting about Palin is that she is fresh new conservative leadership that so many of us have been longing for.

I fully realize you don’t share any of those longings, but then you are not really a conservative.

You don’t have to do me any favors Mike. I read the other threads too. I think to ignore her lack of experience is naive.

The voters who picked Obama are stupid. There was a huge gap for us to exploit. But Palin was hand chosen over Olympia Snowe, KB Hutchinson, and many other better choices. That is also stupid. But whomever said it was as stupid as picking Harriet Miers is not just stupid, they are insane.

You’re wrong on those other points Cent. I was doing you a favor by politely ignoring it.

I think if you look around at some of the other threads here you’ll find that your concern has been dealt with.

Anyone who wants to draw attention to Obama’s lack of experience and qualification to sit in the Oval Office on day one by attacking Sarah Palin as the choice for #2 is stupid.

Mike you don’t have to reply to my comments about something some one else said. I never said anything about the stupidity of the Harriet Miers nomination.

And thanks so much for ignoring my points and only commenting on the Extreme Conservatives line.

She removes McCain’s best weapon, she exacerbates Obama’s best weapon and does not help McCain win moderates in the general. If you disagree on any of those points let me know.
