They could cut back on the tips of the crescent (& it is a crescent), they could place the marker closer to the inside or the outside – they could do lots of things that would make sure that the memorial does not become a travesty. OR, they could completely close the crescent into an actual bowl, and punctuate it with stairs in more than one place, making absolutely certain that it isn’t in the least like a crescent – and it couldn’t possibly cost that much more than it is now.

It’s impossible to ‘remove’ the ‘possibility of this interpretation’.

Unless ground has been broken already, there’s no compelling reason not to completely redesign this thing. It doesn’t matter whether the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has promised enormous future contracts to the designer, or it’s just a matter of creative pride that compels its defense. There need be no conspiracy to expose here.

Amy, in the original site plan it’s called “BOWL (CRESCENT OF EMBRACE).”

This design is an embarrassment to these heroes, and even if the design is somewhat accidental in that it was intended to follow the natural geography, it needs a redesign.

Is that really a crescent? If so, it’s completely inappropriate. But if it’s just people seeing things, thats’ a different story. What has the designer of the area said about it? Has there been confirmation that it is a crescent?
