110th Congress Approval Hits Single Digits

New Rasmussen poll:

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

Read the rest of the results.

Apparently, Congress’s approval rating has not only been lower than that of President Bush, but that of Osama bin Laden’s approval in Pakistan, as well (which is also low):

Support in Pakistan for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has fallen from 46 percent in August to 24 percent now, according to a separate poll released Sunday.

Take the polling data for what it’s worth.

    AGAIN,

People still favor Democrats in a generic congressional vote by a double digit margin. This time I don’t even have to produce a link, it’s in the artilce you’re citing…

    (Politico-The Crypt)

Republicans, eager to portray Democratic leaders as running the Congress into the ground, pounced on the numbers [by the new poll]. But the negative perceptions of Congress as a whole do not seem to be greatly affecting views of the majority party.

Democrats still enjoy a 12 percentage point lead on Rasumssen’s generic congressional ballot, despite the negative views of Congress as a whole.

In addition, Democrats can point to a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll taken in mid-June, which found that by a 52 percent to 33 percent margin, people said they would rather see Democrats retain control of Congress in November.

That 19-point spread favoring Democrats is the largest recorded for either party since the question was first asked in 1994.

Those numbers, however, did not stop eager Republicans from seizing on the dismal generic congressional approval ratings.

Democrats upsetting congressional races during the recent primaries are another area to point to.

Fit Fit, the DNC Congress lost 4 points favor by their own Dem constituents.

The percentage of Democrats who give Congress positive ratings fell from 17% last month to 13% this month. The number of Democrats who give Congress a poor rating remained unchanged.

Even they think their Reps are fer sheeeet.

The “double digit” lead in “generic” Congressional races is certainly hard one to pin down. First of all, it’s very local. Secondly, the DNC ran very moderate/centrist DNC candidates in the mid-terms. We won’t know much about that until all Congressional race results are in post election. Other than that, you’re just asking a bunch of responders whether they’d vote party, not people.

BTW, ever notice how these polls rarely provide responders profiles and actual questions? And those that do, ever notice how the majority of them are DNC weighted?

    Yeah… that’s a real “pulse”….

That drop would be due to the pending FISA bill. The existing low rating would be disappointment over failure to do anything about the Iraq war. Neither of those are huge issues for me…

Crosstabs and other information are usually available if you’re willing to pay.

America is still a center-right country. Republicans are suffering from a failure of governance, not ideology. They have performed very poorly as the ruling party. They have consistantly abandoned conservative princples once elected into office. The rank and file of the party are too distracted by partisan politics to hold them accountable.

The only thing the Democraps have working for them is the polls and the ability to steal elections. For over 50 years I watched as they published polls and then cheated and defrauded, and lied to win. States with Dems at the head find ways .

The democrat leadership in congress is: Turbin Durbin (traitor), Leaky Leahy (traitor), Rock-e-feller (traitor), Hanoi John (traitor), led by Reid (mentally ill/traitor).

I’m getting exactly what I expected when they were put in charge in Jan 2007, a crashed stock market, a crashed housing market, rising unemployment and $4.11 per gallon gas.

So far the hero’s in the military have fought off AQ and democrats to the point of winning the war in Iraq. I still expect the democrats to surrender the victory the first chance they get. They seem to love the feel of the blood of millions on they’re hands. Since those who vote for them share the blood it may not be dripping blood, just blood stained hands.

Fit Fit, INRE your #4, can’t say as I disagree with any point. I do tend to think the nation is leaning more left of center than right, but we won’t know that until November. So frankly, I hope you’re correct.

wow, I guess Katherine Harris stole the 2000 presidential election in Florida for the democrats, right? and I guess the CEO of Diebold promised to “deliver Ohio” to the democrats in 2004, right?

folks, this is your brain on drugs. or fox news, take your pick.

The only thing that the Democrats have working for them…….. is that they only have to run against the Republicans. Try setting the bar a bit higher and they might lose. In the next election I expect them to pick up 5 senate and 10 house seats, and of course the White House.

It seems funny to me that liberal Democrats are only capable of whining, crying and complaining while explaining that they are the more popular of the two parties. Didn’t you people say the same thing in 2004? What is it about the self-hypnotism of the Democrats? Liberals are losers because they propose no solutions to a single problem. They only point their fingers at everyone and blame them for things being the way they are. The loser 110th Congress is a perfect example. Democrats suck.
