I’m somewhat surprised regarding all the media hubbub over little ‘Alex’. It’s pretty early in the year for this ad to really inflict any long-term damage, more women are already strongly opposed to the war in Iraq (especially young ones), practically speaking Iraq is a non sequitur for many lives in the US ( as the MSM barely covers it), and the ads’ target group are unlikely to even vote.

I think both made some good points. Andy doesn’t even bring up Kristol’s argument of our all-volunteer military, nor does he mention Alex will only be 9 by the time when McCain leaves office.

Andy’s right about there being on contempt for the military found in the ad; certainly there is contempt found for McCain.

In the end, the ad. is an artful dodge, a deceptive deployment— just what you want in this political climate!
