Just to repeat:

The Washington Post opined that Obama’s “effort to cloak his broken promise in the smug mantle of selfless dedication to the public good is a little hard to take.”

That’s putting it mildly. Obama’s claim that his small donor base is akin to public financing doesn’t even pass the laugh test. But this is the result of a man whose ego has now created a self defining reality.

That’s a dangerous thing in a President.

In your previous post, “That Change Feeling,” I commented on Obama’s decision to forgo public financing of his general election campaign. Like many, I have been very surprised at his ability to raise as much cash as he has and continues to do so, and how much influence this will lead to in an Obama presidency. As per my previous comment, I do think Obama’s decision seriously undercuts the entire Democrat position on public financing of elections and their support of McCain-Feingold.

In politics, perception has as much impact as action, if not more. Since this is the MSM making the “call,” it remains to be seen if Obama’s would still get a pass in the coming months.
