Obama Changed His Tune Once Before, And Again and Again…

Changing his tune once again. He gets the nomination and now he tries to move to the center:

Of course his own website says:

Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq.

But hey…whatev’s. It’s all politics baby!

2003…against sending troops in. 2004, don’t pull troops out. 2008, pull all troops out…except a widdle security force of course.

Sounds like a great Commander in Chief to me.

    Dude!

Hey dude, we won, didn’t anybody tell you? Winners don’t cut and run, whiners do. His speech writer must have just made a spelling mistake and he just went on by.

Comrade Obama is so enamored with how he speaks, he forget that some are actually listening to what he says.

    Curt, you’re so wrong.
    You forgot:
    2005: doesn’t want a timetable for withdrawal
2006: doesn’t want more troops or change to counter-insurgency strategy (ie The Surge)
2007: wants to keep US forces there till 2013
2007: wants to pull out combat troops immediately, but not forces needed to train ISF, fight AQ, protect Americans (ie, the mission that all the troops are doing there already)
2007: wants a timetable for withdrawal
2008: wants all US troops out

This guy is a TYPICAL Democrat telling voters what they want to hear, waxing and waning with the wind, and if he has any idea what needs to be done….he’ll do it after elected. Dems have shown us in 2004, 2006, and now in 2008 that when they campaign on a “vote D and we’ll end the war” bit, they’re just saying that. It’s not that they need more power, it’s that they never intended to do it in the first place because 1) they don’t have the political stomach to do what it takes to succeed, and 2) they don’t want to be held accountable for a historic failure

He was for the war before he was against it:
    http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2008/03/the_evolving_barack_obama.as

In July of 2004, the day after his speech at the Democratic convention catapulted him into the national spotlight, Barack Obama told a group of reporters in Boston that the United States had an “absolute obligation” to remain in Iraq long enough to make it a success.

“The failure of the Iraqi state would be a disaster,” he said at a lunch sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, according to an audiotape of the session. “It would dishonor the 900-plus men and women who have already died. . . . It would be a betrayal of the promise that we made to the Iraqi people, and it would be hugely destabilizing from a national security perspective.”
