I just don’t see how electing a Chicago Machine politician/ward-healer (sic – it’s “heeler” actually) to the White House is any kind of step forward or “heals” anything.

    Rezko also co-chaired a million-dollar fund-raiser for President George W. Bush in 2003.

Obama paid a reasonable market price for 1/6th the lot he purchased from Resko’s wife.

And guilt by association establishes nothing.

  3. Doug says “guilt by association establishes nothing” which he precedes with the usual moral equivalence crapola that Democrats have used to enable corruption at every level of their party for YEARS!

Sure Doug! According to your rules, guilt by association is only to be applied to Republicans.

How else would you get away with the Republican”culture of corruption” in the Jack Abramof scandal while ignorning all the Democrats who took money from Abramof clients.

More than anything else, Democrats are responsible for the complete lack of any progress in eliminating corruption. Like Doug, they are only too willing to look the other way when it is their guy sticking hands in the cookie jar.

Poor old Doug is suffering from advanced BDS. No hope, no cure, all will die with it. I guess Doug learned his life’s lessons as an ‘unwanted’ child, missed by the democrat abortion machine. Everything he did was because ‘someone’ else did it first. But thats a democrat, not an individual thought ever enters their head.
The most ethical congress in history and they were going to drain the swamp of corruption. I guess old Botox learned you can’t drain the swamp when you’re up to your a** in alligators/party criminals.
I think every member of congress who commits a crime should be arrested, tried, convicted (within 24 hours) and shot at dawn. No exceptions.

While we’re discussing Chicago political machines etal, get your imagination a’whirl with Jake Tappers account of an Obama/Lieberman encounter on the Senate floor… in the wake of a Lieberman critique of Obama’s AIPAC speech.

Returning to the Senate after his securing the Democratic presidential nomination, Obama and Lieberman greeted each on the Senate floor in the Well as they were voting on the budget resolution.

They shook hands. But Obama didn’t let go, leading Lieberman – cordially – by the hand across the room into a corner on the Democratic side, where Democratic sources tell ABC News he delivered some tough words for the junior senator from Connecticut, who had just minutes before hammered Obama’s speech before the pro-Israel group AIPAC in a conference call arranged by the McCain campaign.

Watch video of the encounter on the Senate floor HERE.

The two spoke intensely for approximately five minutes, with no one able to hear their conversation. Reporters watched as Obama leaned closely in to Lieberman, whose back was literally up against the wall.

Neither party is officially talking. But while Lieberman spokesman Marshall Whitman says the conversation was “a cordial and friendly discussion” and Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton says it was “private and friendly,” Democratic sources tell ABC News that the conversation was a stern rebuke to Lieberman for his criticism of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee on the conference call, as well as a discussion about how far Lieberman is willing to go in his advocacy of McCain, and the tone of the campaign.

The video link provided is a long shot, and captures only the part of Obama’s firm clasp on Lieberman amidst the crowd, until they exit out of frame to the right. The rest is presumably constructed from witnesses. Tapper’s accounting does rightfully deserve this caveat… the full encounter, nor the video, is not available on tape. So one can only guess what was said, and in what manner. I’ll wager “body language” interpretators are going to have a ball with this one….

However this bizarre event – an obviously more virulent and younger Senator physically guiding the older and smaller Lieberman out of the crowd (and out of camera view?), and instead to a private wall, begs the most simple of observations…. you can take the boy out of Chicago. But can you take the Chicago out of the boy?

Obama paid a reasonable market price for 1/6th the lot he purchased from Resko’s wife.

Really, Doug? So paying $104K for a piece of dirt that appraised for $40,500 is a “reasonable market price”? Do allow me to sell you some real estate. Hang on a minute. I’m *sure* I have a bridge to nowhere somewhere’s up my sleeve for ya!

But you’ll have to pay cash, my friend. Inflating prices using a mortgage lender, and concealing the real appraisal value by using a shady appraiser, constitutes mortgage fraud. There’s a lot of people caught up in these very lawsuits right now… wake of subprime stuff, ya know.

UPDATE: Speaking of that $64K overpayment to a guy known for kick backs that I mentioned not only here, but on another thread to Mindless Missy, Jim Geraghty has a schpiel on that at his Campaign Spot today.

Obama has returned $157,835 in campaign funds that Tony Rezko and his associates donated in his career.

But will he return the land that he bought from Rezko?

I can hear it now. “But Jim, this isn’t a donation from Rezko to Obama,” because the senator bought the land for a lot more than it was worth — “an appraiser valued the slice of land Rezko sold at $40,500, Obama decided it would be fair to pay Rezko substantially more: one sixth of his original purchase price, or $104,000.”

Precisely. Rezko “widely known to be under federal investigation at the time.” Paying substantially more than the land was appraised creates the appearance of a $64,000 payment to a person who, if found guilty, could discuss his longtime association and business dealings with a U.S. senator with federal law enforcement.

I’d like to see change, change in New Orleans where billions was given for Levees, that ended up in The MACHINES back pockets.
, change in Detroit where Millions have gone astray, change in Chicago where corruption is rampant. All this can be multiplied by all the cities in the control of the Democrapic party. Not only do they rob us of our money, but they also rob us of our votes. No one really knows how many elections have gone because of fraud, but you can use your eyes and see the utter garbage strewn neighborhoods and streets in Democrapic controlled cities. Doug you should be ashamed of your self.

doug is smoking the same stuff obama was packing his beek with. doug needs to stop being so stepfordish about obama, makes him seem stupid. obama’s “friends” and spiritual family will be his undoing, it just may take a while. did you guys see that his campaign put portapotties on a memorial to fallen police officers in portland? what a great guy the dems are ramming down our throats. between all his other interests and literally crapping on dead cops and his lack of knowledge on anything even remotelly important to the average american i don’t see what the dims see. maybe i need to stop thinking for myself and just ride the obama wave, nope i will be me.

  9. MataH: That was an interesting link to Tapper’s piece with Obama pushing Lieberman around. It’s a shame the video isn’t better, as it would illustrate something the Jewish community is very familiar with: the black man physically invading the space of the Jew.

Luva: I wish we had a photo of those porta potties Obama’s campaign erected on the police memorial in Oregon. That’s just the sort of crapping on our country mentality that we can expect from the Obamatons if he were elected.

Perhaps Doug can explain away both sets of circumstances, as he so breezily does everything and anything controversial involving Obama.

Mike’sA, I had the “Obamabots take a dump on Oregon’s finest” story posted on my blog. As you desire… The photo’s below. There’s also a “video story” that links off the story page.

I have the photo archived but haven’t figure out how to post it from my database as opposed to the source.

  12. Thanks MataH. I’m surprised they didn’t put the porta potties on either side of the flag pole. It looks like they had all kinds of room on the other side of that fence, but of course that’s where the A list crowd is allowed to be. They don’t want to be near the common folks.

The park is narrow and long, running the Willamette River. They run food and music festivals there regularly, fer heavens sake. No stranger to large crowds. Never has anyone had to take a dump over the memorial! The photo above was taken by a Police Officer.

Obama’s campaign finally issued the following “apology”…

“An unacceptable error in judgment was made while trying to accommodate disabled supporters,” the apology says. “Our campaign has nothing but respect for Portland’s dedicated police officers.”

Boy does that give me the warm fuzzies…. I guess those disabled have to hold it during the other events. LOL

Portland’s about 30 miles from me. But you’d be surprised at all the routes I’ve found to dodge it!
