He would be responsible for picking hundreds if not thousands of staff members (with the help of people he picked). Unfortuatly, he is just not good at picking people. The U.S. doesn't need he director of the CIA to go off hunting for alien space ships, the FBI director publicly smoking a crack pipe or the Secretary of Education claiming that books promoting Communism will be manditory reading. That's not far off what Carter picked and Obama had picked some of he same people to advise him. If Carter didn't make the news because of stupidity, one of his staff members did. Obama will have the same problem.
