In 1955, I was a Junior at the University of Detroit, and was a "wind bag" liberal like many college students. I actually got my hands on one of the first issues of WFB's National Review, and there after was an avid reader. Between Bill Buckley and my moderate and even conservative professors in the College of Commerce and Finance I became a real conservative, a knowledgeable conservative for the rest of my adult life. As a result, I was proud of serving as an officer in the United States Navy for four years, following my graduation from college, always proud of my country during my adult life [except for a few instances during the Carter Administration] unlike Michelle Obama. Bill Buckley was a great man, a great intellect, led this country into the 1980's with unprecedented respect [RR my hero], and will be greatly missed. RIP WFB!
