Given that the latest thing is the possibility of global cooling, I wonder if they’ll do a reciprocal show on what would happen if the average global temperature _dropped_ the same six degrees. I suspect the effects would be much worse.

Yup. Democracy at work. I can imagine other ways it might have been done that I would have liked even better, but it looks like a success story for our system of governance. I’m not hostile to all environmental initiatives, just stupid ones.

There will always be a segment of society that thinks our affairs should be managed by some self-appointed elites. Everyone else will have to accept mass death and poverty, and its for their own good.

Ever wonder why the Global Warming Movement took off right around the time the Soviet Union collapsed? Marxism was such an obvious failure (100MM dead? 200MM dead?) they had to move onto something else.

Considering the hippie leftist have been wrong on every other dire prediction, why should their new-age religion prophecy on Man-Made Global Warming (based itself on disproved data and political expediency) be any different?

And as I keep telling our other resident leftist. Conservatives do not go out destroying the environment like some Captain Planet “villain”. Socialists nations, on the other hand, have a very poor track record.

The author manages to be wrong twice: first in touting the Chinese (or any other Communists) as some sort of benefit for the environment, and second in acting as if our society needs radical reorganization in order to deal with environmental challenges. Look at the damage the Soviets did to Lake Baikal or the Aral Sea, or look at China’s air and water pollution… they’ve matched the worst excesses we had during the 19th and early 20th century, but lack the democratic institutions to fix their problems.
We cleaned up Pittsburgh’s air and Lake Erie’s water without having to resort to fascism. There are still some corporate villains who could stand to be brought to heel, but overall we’re doing pretty well.

I am sitting here in Michigan with a high of 12 degF (yesterday was a balmy 8 degsF). It might even get to the mid 20s during the warming period this week. Even at the worst doom and gloom from the very rich and profitable “man made” global warming industry, it might eventually rise 1-2 deg F. Considering that each period of cyclic warming since 5,000 BC has resulted in a boom in human civilization (and it was much warmer then than now), I have to wonder what the downside is also.

We even have a few more storms worth of that white stuff the Church of Gore said was going away forever coming in. Meanwhile, it is so cold that one of my house’s windows cracked from the temperature difference last night.
