Been traveling all day. Driving up to the Bay Area from Orange County usually takes 5-6 hours. Took a bit more then that today with all the holiday traffic but oh well. Can’t say I wasn’t expecting it. So now we are at the In-Laws, getting ready to use my 49er season tickets tomorrow (for the first time this year, damn work), and enjoy the holidays.
I saw that Fred put out a holiday message today and for the first time in quite some time, I’m in complete agreement with Allah:
Classy. They could have gone the Huckabee route here and turned it into
a political opportunity by having Fred appear in it. The fact that they
didn’t speaks well of him.
It is classy. Check it out here:
Here is the email his campaign sent to accompany it:
Dear Friend:
In this season when we are thankful for the many
blessings our freedom enables, we should also remember the hundreds of
thousands of men and women, sons and daughters, and friends who are
defending America’s security.Their faithful devotion and
defense to our founding principles protects us and is allowing freedom
to spread in lands formerly ruled by tyranny. The victory that
they are winning against the threats of radical terrorists will be the
clarion call that goes out to all the world’s tyrants, that America
will fight for those oppressed and deliver God’s great gift of freedom. As they go about their duties, we pray that they will be safe and comforted by all those here at home praying for them.
Senator
Fred Thompson had this video produced to thank our troops for their
courage and sacrifice, and to let them know they are not forgotten as
they are away from their loved ones during the Christmas holiday. We
would ask that you take the time and forward this to any active duty
military soldier, reservist and veteran in your e-mail address book and
ask them to do the same. Please also forward this to all of your
family, friends and associates and ask them to do the same.We join Fred in wishing each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Sincerely yours,
Major

Very tasteful and classy message of thanks to our heroes. Face it folks, there is nothing fake about Fred. He is the genuine article and won’t spin a message of thanks to our troops this holiday into political points for himself.
Fred has more class in his left big toe then all the candidates on both sides of the aisle combined. Yes, I’m biased….I admit it. I want my guy to win because I feel he is our best chance at getting a real conservative into the White House. Someone who won’t flap like a leaf in the wind depending on which way the polls go.
Hell, he won’t even pander to farmers in Iowa!
AKD: What will you do for the farmers of Bremer County?FT: (laughs)
AKD: You knew this was coming, right?
FT: I would continue to enjoy the fruits of their labor. I’ve been looking all over Iowa for a bad steak and I can’t find it. Been trying my best. It’s not a matter of what I would do for the farmers. Farmers are not looking for a president to hand them something. Farmers want fair treatment and a chance to prosper in a free economy and that’s what I would help ensure. There’s a lot of programs we’ve got out there, some of which are good programs, some of which are not. And I think that we need to work our way through that and make sure we’re doing what’s good for the country, not just the farmers, not just the people of Iowa, not just the people of Tennessee. But good for the country. A sound policy that makes sense. I think there’s a lot more that we could do for the working farmer in terms of ecological programs and environmental programs – land conservation, soil conservation – that would be fair and it would be beneficial to the nation and to Iowa and to our country. We’re going to have to phase out the corporate welfare system we’ve got, however. There are extremely rich people living in skyscrapers in Manhattan that are receiving subsidy payments. I think that’s wrong. I’d put a stop to that if it was within my power. That still continues in this latest Farm Bill and it’s not right. There ought to be a cutoff at some level and it’s not right ot have millionaires receiving farm subsidies.
He’s as solid as a rock. Won’t pander, won’t do the classless thing for a holiday message and attack his opponents, and won’t waver from his strong conservative principals.
But with that said I will vote for whomever gets the Republican nod in the primary because anyone of them is heads and tails better then anything the Democrats have going (minus Ron Paul of course).
But I’m praying Fred gets it.

I’m with you Curt. Fred Thompson is America’s best hope for a bright, safe and strong future.
I’m flying in to vote for him in the Florida primary but if he fails to get the nomination, I may decide to save the airfare when it’s time for the general election.
Any of the other candidates on either side, would be equally as bad for the country,so why bother?
Fred is hands down the best choice, no one compares except Duncan Hunter. I’ll repeat my assertion that a Thompson/Hunter ticket would be unbeatable.
