Is this calling the kettle black or what?
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) signaled concern about the prospect of GOP-aligned 527 groups pouring money into contested races, according to a memo he wrote to House Democrats today.The memo was sent to the Democratic Caucus after the party lost two special elections in heavily-Republican districts in Ohio and Virginia. The DCCC spent $244,000 on negative advertising in the Ohio special election, in a district that President Bush carried in 2004 with 61 percent of the vote.
~~~According to Van Hollen, one of several factors that helped Republicans in Ohio was the third-party money spent by Freedom’s Watch, a conservative organization headed by former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer. The group spent in the six-figures on an anti-Weirauch attack ad accusing her of supporting “free healthcare for illegal aliens.”
Cough….
This year the Democrats have money to throw at seats that they know they can’t win. But forcing the Republicans to spend money they can’t afford may pay off on other races by leaving the Republicans with a smaller war chest.
There is just NO WAY Dems were going to win that seat in Ohio. That’s the seat in my hometown and it was filled for years by Del Latta, Robert’s Father (Robert Latta is the guy who won) before Paul Gilmore took over.
It’s about as solid a GOP seat as there is.
As for Van Hollen: He ought to be more worried about the moron.org and Code Pink circus freaks who have vowed to campaign against Dems.
Yeah John… The Dems just lost two elections by solid margins to replace deceased congressmen.
What did your vaunted slanted/biased polls and intrade say about them?
