The Des Moines Register’s Carolyn Washburn (a.k.a. Schoolmarm) is the
moderator of the debate. She’s no plant, but she sure is a stick in the
mud. Her line of the debate so far: “A little snappier, gentlemen!” An
hour into the debate, there’s no pile-on on Huckabee. There’s no time
for one. Schoolmarm won’t allow it!
Can we hear her say “you ARE the weakest link!”
I actually did listen to the debate as I was out in the garden today (wonderful day here on the right coast). I’ll do a writeup when the transcript is available.

On education Fred got it right.
You can ditch the department of education and throw it back to the states, you can set any policy you want but as long as the NEA is out there you are pointing your thing into the wind before you pump bilges.
Haven’t watched it but from all written descriptions Fred putting the moderator in her place went over well. It also seems like Fred wasn’t personally attacking anyone other than Mitt in some response, which is good. It’s not clear whether Fred or Mitt really “won”, but evidently Fred displayed more of the requisite humor than Huck, who will hopefully start to disintegrate over his Mormon/Lucifer/Jesus inquiry and his “apology” to Mitt. Kinda crazy how the future of the free world is being decided.
