Jergenson is right. Smith is a hero and probably one of the best reporters on the Middle East and terrorism ever.
The experts like Walid Phares and others have vindicated him, not to mention that Hezbollah’s actions in the months following Smith’s reports proved his accuracy.
God bless men like W. Thomas Smith Jr.

Since when did HuffPo get such acclaim that the unbelievably inept and biased Hilary Rosen gets invites everywhere on the talking head circuit?? HuffPo is like the cyber version of tabloids – The Star or Nat’l Enquirer.

No, wait… let me take that back. The Nat’l Enquirer has *more* credibiilty than HuffPo.

I ‘fess, I’m not up on Smith’s stories. I’ll have to set my mind to doing that.

But it strikes me as particularly insidious when Smith is attacked by Huffpo and ilk, and those such as Malkin are impervious to his plight. Are all these people getting to be caricatures of themselves??

Then again, like O’Reilly, Hannity and Coulter, I left Malkin in the cyber recycle bin a long time ago. Not unlike Drudge, their peaks have come… and gone. And we’ve witnessed that power and celebrity can corrupt from within. Thank heavens Laura Ingram, the guys at Long War Journal, etal are still sharp as a tack.

W Thomas Smith is being hailed a hero for getting the truth out by the leaders of Lebanon’s 14 March Democracy movement. But many of his fellow Americans, who don’t know the facts, and are listening to the pro-Hizbollah propoganda of the left wing are throwing him under the bus and running over him.
Smith is a hero, and thise attacks are the shame of all shames.

Jergenson – I’m more worried about what the right wingers Michelle Malkin and Bob Owens at Confederate Yankee are doing to W. Thomas Smith, Jr. They threw him under the bus, calling this situation just as bad as the TNR situation with Scott Beauchamp and called for his termination from NRO!

What pissed me off about that is that other than one week when she was on vacation and gave up her blog to milbloggers, Michelle Malkin and HotAir.com rarely, if ever, link to milbloggers for anything. And I don’t recall either of them even once linking to THE TANK or W. Thomas Smith, Jr.’s reporting from Lebanon when it took place. Yet, here she and Bob Owens are using W. Thomas Smith, Jr. to try to make some political point against the Left by somehow showing how the right has much more ethics than the Left (compared to the TNR situation).

Meanwhile, they don’t once stop to think that maybe the pro-Hezb’Allah side is working to demonize any good, factual, truthful reporting coming from Lebanon exposing the truth about Hezb’Allah’s hold on the country.

I found their reporting completely irresponsible. They could have given W. Thomas Smith, Jr. the benefit of the doubt and waited for some full investigation into the facts, but they didn’t. And I have yet to see either Bob Owens or Michelle Malkin report on this article.

I have lost a lot of respect for both of them.
