"But they can't hide the good news anymore it seems. Just too much of it to keep down. Like todays report that the Iraqi's are battling al-Qaeda by themselves in greater numbers:"

Maybe they can't but the New York Times sure tried. The article Curt linked to the Globe was an AP release. The Times took that release and had this Headline: "ROADSIDE BOMB KILLS SEVEN ACROSS IRAQ" An hour after I wrote the public editor at NYT's, both AP and the Times changed the link and the title. I have the actual "headlines" HERE

And talk about head-in-the-sand...!

In 2-4 weeks, the first 5700 American troops are scheduled to be withdrawn. They are "surge troops", but the withdrawal is expected to continue until next summer. A steady flow of troops coming home starting this Christmas. And if it continues, starting in June more troops are expected to withdraw from Iraq with parades on the 4th of July and everything. How's that gonna play for the left? These orders were issued months ago, and done so very publicly, but still ignored. The very DAY that President Bush gave the order to start withdrawing forces...protesters went out and demanded a withdrawal (duh).

So, why the continued Congressional demand for a withdrawal?
Why the demand from protesters?
Why all the anti-war focus from the left?

'Cause sites like Kos, Huffpo, and media outlets like MSNBC and NYT didn't report the order then, dismissed Petraeus' speech as a betrayal, and don't dare report the absolulte military miracle that's happening in Iraq over the past 9 months.

5700 are packing their gear. Soon they'll be on planes, in airports, and then scatter across the US on hundreds of individual planes at hundreds of individual airports-perhaps thousands. Will it get reported? Will the historic military accomplishment of success in Iraq be reported, dismissed by spin, or acknowledged despite the political partisanship and bias? Gonna be hard to ignore-especially if it keeps up with another brigade in January, another in Feb, another in March, and so forth.

Oh, but my guess is they'll still go out and protest and demand a withdrawal even while its happening.

And the Dems in Congress will continue to pass non-binding resolutions until they can't hide from the reality anymore (then they'll stand up and take credit for both the withdrawal and the military success).

Meanwhile, and till then...I say to all those in the sandbox:
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The liberals can hope and pray..."

Come on Curt! You know liberals don't pray! They might chant "Ommmm, Ommm, Ommmm" while hugging a tree, but that's about it.
