Honoring Veterans

Sadly Veterans Day has gone the way of Memorial Day.  Our leaders in Washington deemed it necessary to ensure that the holiday gives everyone a three day weekend and over time the meaning behind the holiday’s fade away.  This must not be allowed to happen.

Today, the 11th day of the 11th month is the true Veterans Day.  Originally celebrated as Armistice Day it commerated the end to fighting between the Allies and Germany in 1918.  Over 620,000 American soldiers have died since the beginning of World War I.  The self sacrifice of these brave men and women, those who gave their lives for this country and those who put their lives on the line,  is truly worthy of hero status and should be always be remembered.

That is what this day is about.

Happy Veterans Day, and please….thank a Veteran
