Budget = 72.5 million, US take - 46.8 million, International take - 20 million, 42 days since release. Meanwhile American Gangster has already pulled in 56 million in 7 days.

International doesn’t cut it either.

Look at Rendition, 9.3 million US, 1.2 million International, 23 days since release.

The Kingdom fairs a bit better due to its action but still hasn’t broken even. Budget = 72.5 million, US take – 46.8 million, International take – 20 million, 42 days since release.

Meanwhile American Gangster has already pulled in 56 million in 7 days.

Many movies that don't do well in the United States, do well on the international market. That's why American firepower in the movies is used to fight aliens, monsters and machines and not some real threat. Many of the more famous WWII movies were made years after the war was over and those were made for the American market. That market has gone soft while the latest Halo brought in something like $170 million in the first three days and the latest Guitar Hero did about the same. The latest pro American/British slant is from Call of Duty 4 which the player plays either a British or American trooper depending on the scenario.

The big problem is the backers want to go international. Many movies that don’t do well in the United States, do well on the international market.
