My teacher was my maternal grandfather, a school teacher and a Democrat. He joined the Army in 1917. Just a note for the "new" Democrats. By the way, he was the last real democat I have ever known. He would have given me a severe whipping if I had treated the Colors in that manner and then the adult who thought it OK would have gotten one, also. And no one would have gone to jail. Back then there were consequences for actions.
