Yes Jeff, it was a 2003 report. AQ started working on 9-11-01 in 1996 also.

In 2004, Arabic Jihad websites repeated this plan. Doing these acts is not that difficult. Get some accellerant, an improvised detonator, and a container, wait for favorable weather and *poof*, forest fire. One alleged arsonist was shot, but no word on who he was. More were catpured, but again, no ID.

So we have, yet again, terrorists comming up with plans a few years old and possibly acting on them now. Considering these multiple simultanious fires are mostly confirmed arson, there is reason to worry even if it was no AQ or any Islamic group. However, “multiple simultanious” events are AQ’s forte.

When the police decide to release the IDs of the arsonists captured and the one who was killed, then we will have something more to go on. The fact they have not released the names yet begs the question. Usually when police shoot someone, thier name and history is all over the news that night.

Since I live in So. Calif I am very familiar with the Santa Ana’s. Also, if you had read the post I put up a disclaimer that said…and I quote:

Now many of these fires could be set by pyros, but you cannot discount the fact that AQ has talked about this kind of attack in the past and the “coincidence” of these fires being set and bin-Laden’s new message.

If you were to offer a link to the story from the Arizona Republic, you might learn that the story mentioned was published 4 years ago. You might also note that fires during the “Santa Ana” season are very common in Southern California.

BTW, Did you ever notice the big fault running through the center of California? Sean Hannity has no doubt that al Qaeda built that fault during the Clinton Administration.

I’ll talk about them. After facing homicide bombers, Iranian supplied snipers, and rockets a few useful idiot rich kid enviro-rebel wannabes are nothing.

Very true on the enviros creating conditions where fires thrive. Pre-planning and intelligent cultivation of forest areas can help contain these fires. Arson being the case here, containable fire areas would have greatly helped saves lives and homes.

Here is one way to rebuild the forests so they can be productive and last longer (i.e. we all win, though that is not what ELF and their allies want).

-Replant the forests with fire breaks and access roads planned in.

-Use selective logging to create opportunities for new growth. This also creates jobs and revenue.

-Allow people to clear the dead falls and underbrush from their property and near it to reduce fuel sources for the fires.

-Use controlled burns to clear out problem areas. With fire breaks this should be easier.

-If a wild fire breaks out, do not hesitate, put it out.

The loggers win, the home owners win, animals win, and the forests last longer. Pollution goes down from the smoke and loggers make money by using the wood.

Or we can keep letting billions of tons of usable wood go up in useless flames every year. It seems so simple, but the enviro lobby does not care about rationality.
