It’s All Falling Apart!

OH NO

What are we going to do?  It’s all crashing down!

Oh wait, 70 signed on for the last cut and run bill, now 87.  So let me see if I have this math right.  They now need another 200 to get that veto overturned right?  Adding 17 names is somehow big news to these guys.

Yup, sounds like these Democrats are getting their act together….

Meanwhile in Iraq:

BAGHDAD — After more than 20 months of violent insurgent activity, September marked the first month that there were no murders within the western Ameriya neighborhood of the Iraqi capital.

“Murder has been an effective insurgent tactic in Ameriya and groups like al-Qaeda have capitalized on it as a method to terrorize the local populace,” said 2nd Lt. Evan Howell, a staff officer with 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, who, together with Iraqi Security Forces, provides security for the area. “Earlier this year we were recording almost two a day and since late 2005 murder events were as commonplace as buying groceries in Ameriya.”

Ameriya has already recorded similar decreasing trends with indirect fire, and a rise in the detection of weapons caches and improvised explosive device discoveries, Howell said.

“Stopping murders was a top priority for this battalion,” Howell said. “A zero monthly murder count combined with a record number of weapons caches and IED finds leads to the overwhelming conclusion that Ameriya has become a safe and secure neighborhood. This is probably one of the greatest successes of this battalion’s endeavor to protect the neighborhood of Ameriya.”

Amazing how quiet the MSM is on these kind of things huh?

You can put good money on the idea that when the surge troops come home next spring and summer, and further reductions are announced, Republicans will sign some sort of legislation demanding what will already be happening. That way they can go home and say they supported the war, the surge to success, and the withdrawal. Democrats will beat their chests and claim they forced Darth Cheney and Bushco to end the war or reduce troops. And while politicians on both sides will be screaming at the tops of their lungs how they helped bring about success in the war…the efforts of the troops who fought it will little more than an obligatory side note (as it has been for Democrats since the onset “support the troops”, but not what they do-yeah, oodles of support there).

Can we redeploy 2nd Lt. Evan Howell and 1st Battalion, 5th Calvary to Philadelphia? We seem to be in the same spot as Ameriya was in 2005.
