I have carried my own medical insurance my whole adult life. For major medical care I paid $285 a month. When I turned 65 a few months ago I discovered that because I had medicare the government was now in charge of my health. My medicare would cost $90 a month and I needed to buy a gap plan to fill in for things that medicare didn’t cover for $135 a month, prescription drugs for $16 dollars a month (my one drug before 65 cost $40 a month, now costs $85 a month), for a grant total of $241 a month, because I’m 65. I’m thinking I’ll just keep my old insurance that I had always carried and keep the government out of my medical care. Well you can’t because the government pays medicare there is no insurance company that will insure a 65 year old except for a gap policy. Maybe Hillary doesn’t think that this is socialized medicine…..but when the congress can make political decisions about my medical care it sure feels like socialized medicine…..and I must say I resent it.
