Could it be that if Congress wasn’t wasting our money on obsessive witch-hunt hearings and investigations designed to pick off one opponent or another, or destroy the opposition’s election chances,they might occupy themselves doing quality oversight of some other areas of concern,such as our sieve-like borders or our notoriously faulty intelligence system?

Imagine what congress would do if the Bush Administration subpoenaed Congressmen and their staff on a political matter. They’d go even more berserk than they are already.

There is nothing new in this assertion of Executive Privilege.

It’s not like Bush is inventing new privileges like Clinton’s shabby attempt to keep Secret Service agents from testifying.

“Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. He portrayed the president’s actions as “Nixonian stonewalling.”

A few observations from this seemingly simple quote:

1. The only time the MSM mentions party affiliation is when the Democrat looks like he/she is actually “working” for the American people. When they are involved in silly antics or illegal activities, the MSM gladly omits the party (unless you’re a Republican).

2. The Nixon era is tantamount to the “glory days” of the Democrats — they are always living in the past, hence they want to relive it in the present.

3. The “Nixonian” term here implies the entirety of the era, including the Vietnam War (which cowardly defeatist Democrats and media types think is a big victory for them — it’s not of course, but to the leftist peaceniks, what’s wrong is right, and what’s right is wrong.

From this one simple quotation, the MSM has managed to aid and abet the Democrats, as well as try to spin the Bush Administration as on par with Nixon and Co.
