There's also a flip side to all this obsession with women's sexuality, which is the Islamic assumption that men are such animals they're incapable of controlling their urges unless all temptation is removed from their view. I actually think that, campus rape demonstrations notwithstanding, American men are exemplary are controlling themselves around women showing (a) that it can be done and (b) that American men are pretty darn cool people.
