The Hayden Nomination

All weekend long the blogosphere has been wondering who Bush would pick to head the CIA. Many thought he would back down from picking the most qualified person, Gen. Hayden. I did not and posted exactly that. People should know by now that Bush does not back down from a fight:

President Bush announced his intention to nominate General Michael Hayden as the next CIA director on Monday morning.

“Mike Hayden is supremely qualified for this position,” Bush said from the Oval Office. “Mike has more than 20 years of experience in the intelligence field. He served as six years as director of the National Security Agency and thus brings vast experience leaading a major intelligence agency to his new assignment.

“Mike knows our intelligence community from the ground up. He is both a provider and consumer of intelligence,” Bush said.

Will there be a fight….oh yeah. But I think Bush wants it. Hell I want it. Lets see how the left wants to tie our intelligence hands behind their back while at war with terror.

The calls from Hoekstra are disingenuous. Was Colin Powell’s military background a problem when running State? All political maneuvering and I’m looking forward to this fight.

More later when home from work.

One Response to The Hayden Nomination

can it be explained to me why it is okay for retired aspiring generals to make an attempt to usurp the foreign policy of the United States, but it is unreasonable to ask a (soon to be) retired General to run an intelligence agency that is supposed to be under the leadership and in fact THRALL of the administration?

Retired Generals, who don’t work for the government can have whatever opinions they wish, they are retired.

But a Retired General can’t make sure that an arm of the EXECUTIVE! not the press, the EXECUTIVE! stays in line and doesn’t cross the line of, not partisan, but administrative loyalty?

I’ve had a lot of bosses, I disagreed with all but one, but I served them, if I didn’t like it, I quit. The CIA as a “body” shouldn’t be independant of the Executive, they are, in fact, BITCHES of the Executive. SUCK IT UP WAPO, the CIA doesn’t serve your subscribers, it serves the nations foreign policy at the command of the executive.

    ROAR!

There are Democrats in the military, they still do their friggen job!

    ROAR!
