I just found your blog today and wanted to make a few comments.

As an Army family, we've lived all over the US, but never in CA. Of course, we have friends from all over the country lol, one in particular is from Los Angeles. I've heard her mention South Central and (not sure if it's the same area) Compton (sp?). Coming from a small town in AL, it's hard for me to imagine living in such a huge city...much less being a police officer there. I just wanted to say a quick THANK YOU. If it were not for people like you, I cannot imagine what shape our cities would be in.

They burned their own neighborhoods but when they turned towards those Korean business's they quickly made a u-turn. Seeing those Koreans on top of their business's with assault rifles changed their minds.

Being a southerner and raised where having several guns in the house, hunting...learning firearm safety and how to shoot at a young age etc. was all normal, it's been a sort of culture shock moving to different areas of the U.S. where personal firearms are often considered evil. I understand these views, I just completely disagree lol.

Having read this morning on Neal Boortz's site that San Fran had just voted to make handguns illegal, reading your blog and the description above makes me wonder what the voters of San Fran were thinking. I understand it's a considerably liberal town, but with the threat of earthquakes so prevalent there, I can't help but wonder who these citizens think is going to protect them and their property in the looting aftermath of a large earthquake or during times of civil unrest. Police officers will not be able to be at all places at all times...

As Boortz said this morning, the law-abiding citizens will turn over their weapons by the April 1st deadline. The criminal elements, of course, will continue to have firearms. Unlike the Koreans during the riots protecting their businesses from the rioters, the citizens of San Fran will be at the mercy of the criminals. Of course, when the police cannot be super heroes and protect every individual, their homes and businesses all at once, they will try to blame someone. Most likely, politicians and community activists and leaders will try to place the blame on an "inept" police department and want investigations - when it was their own making by voting for such a dangerous law that put them in peril to begin with.
