Whether his claims are true or not. I do not know, but I do know from personal experience that the American military and civilian is prone to torture. I also know that my five year old child should never need to be defended against a grown man or woman, but I defend him. So, I do know whether you are military or civilian that you will harm a innocent child. If he kills, he is a murderer. If he does not kill, he is a coward. The only thing I know for fact is when I pressured for a hearing in court of law. They gave one answer. We Do Not Know What You Are Talking About. But I have a question. I am working on a project of my own. Does Jimmy Massey have a family? Is he married with children. You would not believe the differences in behavior between man and woman. Or the difference in behavior between African American and Caucasian. Lucky people.

I was an Intelligence Analyst with 3/7 in 2003. All of his “intel” was simply embellished rumors that spread through the battalion like wildfire. While people died and there were indeed bodies in trucks… No Marine ever committed any murders as he describes. I am more than happy to confirm or debunk any of Massey’s stories. I’m dissapointed that he received so much press… and for any one that makes stupid antiwar comments I say: you’re welcome! It is because ofour sacrifices that you are able to speak freely.

Iraqi Vet here, just wanted to chime in.

Although his claims may be exaggerated they are not entirely baseless. Essentially, there is a lot of confusion on the part of the trigger pullers on what’s going on out there. No grunt will be told the strategic implications for his mission aside from, “The tracks need to get through.” My point is that while many grunts accidentally killed civilians their masters and commanders placed them there to begin with.

There is no reason to use Incendiary, Depleted Uranium or White Phosphorous ammunition on or within population centers — alternative ammunition could be provided to unit commanders. Between their training and the Fog of War most grunts will usually fire too many rounds, provide inaccurate radio reports and exaggerate the enemy force or fail to recognize it’s size and movement.

The invasion of Iraq has always been about money, disguised as a mistake and based on a lie. First person reporting can only get you so far. And just to chime in…I’ve killed innocent civilians too. Shit, I think we all did.

I’m a US Marine infantryman that served in 2006 in Fallujah. Lying and exaggerating about war and combat has become a pandemic in this country since Vietnam. Please check out STOLEN VALOR by BG Burkett. Not many, but some men come back and embellish their stories, or completely make them up. I believe Jim Massey is one of those men.

War does terrible, terrible things to humans and society, and I am completely against any war. However, I am also against back stabbing your brothers who fought and died so that men like Jimmy Massey could go home and degrade their sacrifice.

He’s an attention whore and I wouldn’t want him serving on my side when bullets start flying.

I would like to thank you for placing the article about Massey on your website. I was in the same unit, 3RD Battalion 7TH Marines, as Massey. The man was always full of shit and a lousy Marine. He seems not only capable, but excited to stab his fellow Marines in the back.
I will say some inocent people died on our way to Baghdad, this is war and unarmed people will always die in war, but there were no acts of murder in the unit. I will say this as a fact as there is no proof otherwise. Massey is a liar and he is trashing the Marine Corps to line his pockets.
