Oliver Stone & 9/11, Update II

Guess who has signed on to star in Oliver Stone’s upcoming insult of a movie? Maggie Gyllenhaal!

Yup, the same one who said the following a few months ago when speaking about a recent movie of hers:

“I think what’s good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open way that I think it allows it to be more complicated than just, ‘Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,’” Gyllenhaal told the NY1 cable channel.

“Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it’s dealt allows that to sort of creep in,” she added.

Plus you have these recent statements by the idiot himself, Oliver Stone:

Controversial director OLIVER STONE has hit out at US President GEORGE W BUSH for “misusing” his powers after the terrorist attacks on September 11th (01).

The NATURAL BORN KILLERS film-maker, who is currently preparing the first major Hollywood movie to deal with the 2001 atrocities, believes Bush is the wrong man to lead America at the moment, and he is particularly angry about the US invasion of Iraq.

Stone says, “There was an over-reaction after 9/11. Bush was given enormous powers and misused them. He created a war in Iraq that has further helped bust the economy, and has led to civil war there.

“He was the wrong leader at the wrong time. I always felt that. I wish I was wrong.”

So there ya go….but you know this has got to be a great film because he won’t bring any of his hatred, bias, and plain old bad film-making into this film. How much you want to bet Michael Moore will be making a cameo appearance?
